This week, our dedicated Peace Corps Volunteer, Eli, led a heartwarming initiative at Bungatira Central Primary School called “Pages & Patches.” This unique outreach combined two powerful elements: literacy enrichment and uniform repair, all aimed at improving the educational experience for the children in the community.

More than 500 torn school uniforms were mended on-site by a team of local tailors, ensuring that every child could return to class with pride and dignity. For many pupils, a torn uniform has been a barrier to regular attendance—this simple act of repair removes that obstacle and affirms that every child belongs in school.

While the sewing machines hummed, pupils were immersed in a world of imagination and knowledge through a diverse collection of creative storybooks. These reading sessions are not just about fun; they are a step towards boosting literacy skills, building confidence, and nurturing a love for learning.

The Pages & Patches initiative reflects our commitment to holistic education—where no child is left behind due to financial hardship or lack of resources. By investing in both the mind and the dignity of the learner, we are empowering a generation to rise.
